Since 1996,
Our
Present & CEO George Ou sensed the trend of multi-application cards and put
together a team to develop Multi-Component Cards (MCC) for the project for
Taiwan National ID Cards. From 1996 to 2001, the team developed numerous
prototypes of MCC with glass LCD and plastic LCD. However, it could not be
commercialized due to low impact resistance, high power consumption and display
thickness.
In 2002, SmartDisplayer Technology was founded and started to develop EPM
using EPD for smart card applications. We encountered many technological
limitations and barriers along the way and managed to overcome these challenges.
In 2005, we completed the world's first viable display module (EPM & BDM)
for ISO card applications.
